TiddlyWiki 1.2.28 has been merged in and Jody style tagging has been added... tagging is implimented via TiddlerFooter (a new special purpose tiddler) and the ''incomingTags'' macro...\n\n''incomingTags'' is simply the default footer and instead of popping up menus clicking on tags will now take you to the associtated tag tiddler.

What a fun evening. I moved ServerSideWiki to a newer, faster host June 22. I did the data transfer using mysqldump, which I'd user many, many a time in the past. When everything was back up and responded I did a spot check to make sure it all look good...\n\n*And that would have been great except...*\n\nSome one thought that UTF8 export would be a good default for mysqldump even when your database AND tables are both _latin1_. This caused all sorts of special characters and foreign languages to totally be corrupted on the import. (perhaps the DB should be UTF8, but it's not, it never has been and it was working just fine)\n\nI wasn't informed of the problem until 6 days later... what I finally ended up doing was making a new export latin1, and overwriting all the data in the messed up database that had not yet been changed.\n\nh3. In Summary\n\nOf almost 9,000 pages... about 700 were affected by this data glitch... and of those 700 all but 29 were reverted to their original pristine state.\n\nThe 29 had been changed since the last good data I had, so they were left alone... if you have one of then 29 posts and some of your characters are weird now, you can either correct them by hand... or restore to an older version using the built in versioning system (which I also had to correct)...\n\nAs usual, any questions to "support@serversidewiki.com":mailto:support@serversidewiki.com.\n
Well, Textile was cool before, but now... I ported _most_ of the RedCloth Textile library to JavaScript. That means Textile should actually work now. And work well.\n\nNo, I haven't ported everything over... check out [[Textile Bug Tracker]]... Access older versions of a given page... for reference... or to save over a newer version hence reverting back to an older one.\n\n*You must be logged into your account to see revisions.*\n\nCurrently up to 4 revisions are saved, but this will grow after launch.
No, it's not super-duper polished nor exhaustively tested yet, but it works, and quite well if I do say so.\n\nJust incase someone needs it yesteday. :-) It currently uses a synchronous call to load an old revision, so if you're browser freezes for a second, don't panic. This will be changed before launch.\n\nComments and feedback would be welcome.

Ok... the default Ubuntu Hoary kernel was giving me crazy memory leaks so I'm building my own... 2.6.12 with the ck5 patchset and .4 => .5 patch.\n\nI'm going to keep notes here so I know what options to turn on and off in the future... or what does an doesn't work to keep in mind for changing options and future compiles.\n\n!ToDo\n[ ] ACPI power off\n[ ] burning a CD with IDE code\n\n<<addnewtodo>>

Largest database change so far... for consistency DefaultTiddlers have now become DefaultPages... everyone's accounts have been automatically updated, and your MainMenu pages were updated as well if they referenced DefaultTiddlers.\n\nAll special pages (SiteTitle, SiteSubtitle, StyleSheet, etc...) are now tagged "excludeLists" (which means they only show up under tags) and titles and tags for these items cannot be edited. This is a usability thing and should make figuring out these features for new users (and even old pros) a bit easier.\n\nFor those of you creating your own "admin" pages or such you'll need to change to DefaultPages yourself.\n\nThese pages in the future will likely be added to a ServerSideWiki admin panel... for those of you already hacking your own your feedback on how this might look/work would be welcome.

Looks like Jeremy mentioned ServerSideWiki in his Sept 27th update. Visits jumped up mid week as expected. :-)\n\nWhen Jeremy declares the bugs worked out (he mentions some rough edges in his Sept 27th post) I'll merge the latest TiddlyWiki changes into ServerSideWiki. Should be fun, looks like he's changed a lot of stuff.\n\nYes, the launchs is still forthcoming.\n\nP.S. On a side note the now free Opera 8.5 seems to work perfectly for me with the default blue style.

I've been reading the "37Signals":http://www.37signals.com/ koolaid recently and they're strong believers in the first version being 1.0 and none of this "beta forever" stuff.\n\nSo in keeping with that mantra (which makes sense to me) I proudly dub the current release... *beta* version 0.999. :-)\n\nContract work is currently taking the front burners so SSW is still free for use with no restrictions, so enjoy!
Well, the year is dawning to a close... and ServerSideWiki has told me it's lonely, and it's New Years resolution is again to become the apple of my eye. Plus it'd give me something to talk about (at least a little) at RailsConf.\n\nSo I've been thinking about some big changes... mostly cool/unique/well-done things that the other client/server people can't just copy so easy (no offense guys - you're great, but leading the way with cool ideas is fun too)... ie, really start to leverage Rails on the server.\n\n* Multiple logins per account, and simultaneous edits with smart locking, conflict checking... I don't think anything does this right/well yet\n* Access, edit, delete, rename, tag via WebDav using your favorite file utility (just cause it'd be cool)\n* Smart downloading (only fetch the most used tiddlers and load the rest dynamically)... welcome to the most scalable server solution... :-)\n* ServerSide parsing (for full textile + some cool things that I'm *not* going to port to JS)... but not at much of a speed cost... gotta think about this one... I want the best of both worlds...\n** This allows for some really cool ServerSideWiki specific things if it can be done well. And is a trail most other solutions won't embrace due to the high level of integration required between client and server\n* I'm open to other suggestions... anything uber-geek or cool or just nice/functional will be considered.\n\nLoyal users, write in... and yes... if I create a whole new beast with all the above features we'll have to get the paying plans going, though a few features may slide into free accounts, or free trials, or something...

SoloWiki\n\nI know it's been a long time since the "can I have the source?" requests were pouring in... but SoloWiki is the answer to those requests. A single-user wiki in the same line as ServerSideWiki with all the same great features.\n\nh3. Safari support\n\nWork on SoloWiki has helped me pin down an important Safari redraw/rendering issue that should make the default blue theme (and derivites) work much better for Safari users... look for this soon.\n\nOh and last year I went Mac, and I'm not looking back. Apple rules!
